Finding parking and the traffic only gets worse as the day progresses & we almost ran out of Frites!

Although the forecast says 30% chance of rain on Monday, there will be a 100% chance of Free Frites...this is the least we can do for you guys.

Our Monday Mission is to reach the above destinations (find parking) and give 100+ Free Frites at every location.

BTW....some of you might see us this weekend in the city (can't tell you where ;)...but the Free Frites will be for Monday.

Hello Everyone -

Hope everyone is enjoying their summer so far.

It's been a while since we have posted...we have been working diligently to get Frites'N'Meats back on the road before the summer is over so we can enjoy some of it with you....we miss you all very, very much!

We miss seeing folks smile after we serve them, we miss asking you guys what next week's BOTW should be and the daily tweets; we can go on and on - WE MISS IT!

We want to thank every single fan out there that donated to our rebuild efforts, emailed us, tweeted us, called us, some of you just wanted to hear us on the Frites'N'Meats hotline - your support has been overwhelming and kept our spirits up...it pumped us up with the determination to rebuild.

YOU GUYS HAVE BEEN AMAZING!!

Current Status:

The big Yellow and Orange Burger Love Palace can't wait to come out and dispense that Burger Love to NYC!!

We would like to do something special for all of you but we are just looking for the proper venue to do so...will keep everyone posted.

We are aiming to be in NYC Monday (8/8)...location pending and we will update everyone via the blog and twitter.

Hi Everyone -

Hope everyone is reading this post in good spirit and good health :)
Many fans have been asking about us and if & when we are coming back....of course we are coming back :).
We (especially Moody) want to thank everyone for the continued good wishes and inquiries about our return.
Everyone is well and we want to return the good wishes and thoughts to you all - Hope everyone is enjoying this great weather that has finally arrived....we deserve it, it was a rough NY winter.

So...when are we coming back? We are working on it and hoping to be back by August :).
We really can't wait...we miss the City, we miss the people, we miss being out there...it was so much fun :).

NYC SUPPORT HAS BEEN AWESOME

Hi Everyone -
We did not mean to go stealth on everyone over the last few days, we have tried to respond to a few emails but they have been overwhelming.
Our primary concern is for Mohamed's (Moody) health.
We have been keeping him up to speed on all the support we have been recieving via twitter, email & voice mails.
He asked that we tweet out to everyone his appreciation and that he can't wait to see everyone again...he really misses the truck, we all miss the truck but we are all happy that we have each other's company...we are all happy that we can talk to each other....we are just happy it was not a lot worse.

NYC IS THE BEST PLACE ON EARTH
Fellow Food Truckers such as Schnitzel & Things, Mexicue, Rickshaw & others have offered to donate a percentage of today's sales to help rebuild Frites'N'Meats.
Our fans, Food Truckers in LA & some folks we never even meant have offered to help and want us back on the road.
This is why NYC is really the best place in the world...in the time of need everyone wants to help, so much so that you don't even know how to accept all that help.

A close friend of ours opened up a paypal account to accept donations and set up an email account for inquiries on the rebuilding efforts, it is fritesnmeatsdonations@yahoo.com We believe this is the best way to accept support from everyone, as it allows for transparency & accountability.
We cannot just accept funds from people & not have it accounted for.
We will have a third party account for all the funds received and confirm they are used to rebuild Frites'N'Meats.
In the event funds are left over, we would donate them to local charities & schools we have donated to in the past.

We will provide additional detail as time passes by & we can't wait to see you all again.

Hi Everyone -

I take it everyone heard what happened today...we are at a loss for words.
The accident that occurred could have been so much worse...yes the truck is destroyed but everyone is ok. Mohamed, aka Moody will be in the hospital for a while but he will be OK; everyone else is fine.

I want thank that individual who answered my tweet this afternoon and provided detail of my brother's whereabouts when I had no idea what was happening...I can't recall his name as everything was a blur for a while but if you are reading this - I owe you one!

We want to Thank Everyone for their warm wishes & prayers...We want to Thank all our fans, twitter & most of all, The FDNY, NYPD and the Emergency responders that came to the scene - THANK YOU ALL! God Bless all the responders at the scene - Thank You!

Changing of the Guard

Howdy Amigos,
The more things change, the more they stay the same. This is a timeless saying and holds true for us more now than ever before. A year ago, Alex & I started Frites'N'Meats with the desire to bring some of the best Burgers & Frites to the streets of NYC. Over this past year, this has been our singular pursuit. From the beginning we were very fortunate to find a couple of guys, Al & Moody, who shared this goal with us and were instrumental to realizing this vision. In fact, in many ways, they were probably more instrumental to this than we were. After all they are the guys on the truck every day making the Burger & Frites, the Sassy Sauces, the ones talking to you and making sure that not only are the Burgers & Frites top notch but that your overall experience is top notch as well. We saw their passion for the business and their desire, and now we all decided it was time to turn Frites'N'Meats over to them. We will still continue to advise and, where needed, guide them, but the baby we saw through its infancy is now theirs to grow into adulthood. We are certain that they are the best stewards we could havee found for our child and are confident that they will do us all proud.

No, it won't be a veggie burger (we can't give up all our principles), but it will be Lena's Absolutely Kick Ass Caponata!!! Sure its great as a side dish, but it also rocks as a topping for frites, and with some Cheddar Cheese...fuhgetaboutit!!!

We also wanted to tell you about a spectacular Monday special we've got at our restaurant, Paradou, in the Meatpacking District. Every Monday is Free Wine Monday, just make a reservation and get a free bottle of wine for your table. Pretty easy. Pretty kick ass!

Howdy Amigos,

Hope all had a great weekend. How about that humidity? Whew. Felt like August got here a bit early, but then last night and now it feels like a wonderful early Autumn day. Very nice. Well enough of the meteoroligical forecasting. Lets get back to what we know best. Meat.

We've been thinking recently what does the "Meats" in the Frites'N'Meats stand for? Well, it stands for Meat. Of that much we're certain. But does that meat have to come in a Burger form? Hmmmm. Now that's food for thought. So we fired up the top secret Frites'N'Meats Meat Lab and got to work. Meat was flyin' everywhere. But we came up with a couple of things. Some very nice things. Some things that we know youre going to loooooooooooovvvvvvvvvvvvveeeeeee!!!!

What are those things, you ask. Well, you're gonna have to wait for that one. Can't tell you just yet. It'll probably take a week or so. But you are gonna loooooooovvvvvvveeeeee it. Did I already say that? Yes, yes I did. Well, its true. Stay tuned. We'll have it for you next week.

Helllooooo Battery Park City & Other Exciting Things

Howdy All,

We've been wanting to bring Burger Love to Battery Park City for quite some time now, but always viewed it as The Land of Oz. This impenetrable place of tall buildings ruled by many different organizations. Little did we know that we had fans in the Land of Oz, specifically within the Battery Park City Authority (BPCA), the governing body within the Land of Oz. It's rare that the words City Official and Visionary find themselves in the same sentence, but last week, after workign with the BPCA for a couple of weeks, we got a huge glimpse of what can happen when people of vision are allowed to act. The BPCA and the Park Enforcement Police (PEP), the folks who oversee Battery Park City decided that rather than view Food Trucks as a nuisance, they would welcome them to a trial program. The BPCA & PEP not only hope that this trial program will succeed in Battery Park City but, and this is where the vision bit truly comes in, hope that it can be used as an example of how Food Trucks can be welcomed throughout the City.

We are very excited to announce that starting today, every Monday, we will be located on Murray Street between West Street & North End Avenue, next to the Goldman Sachs building. We know we have a lot of Burger Lovers in the Goldman, WFC, BoNY & Stuyvesant HS buildings and are very glad that we will now be able to service all of them from a much more convenient location. This is truly exciting & revolutionary news!!! Burger Love makes things happen!!!

A most exciting development last week. We got a call from the new Cooking Channel. They're apparently doing a show on the Top 10 Food Trucks in the country. The show is tentatively titled "Food Truck Revolution" and will air on August 9th.

We, of course, are super flattered to be included in this. We've always known that what we were doing was mighty fine but to be acknowledged like this is very very cool. The segment is being filmed this Tuesday, May 18th at 6:30 at Greenwich St & Duane St, in front of the Food Emporium. We would love to have some of you show up. The folks from the show would like to talk to some of our fans to ask what makes our Burgers so Burgerific. Let Love Rule, Weekly Schedule & The Italian Job

Howdy All,

Last week many you may have heard about a little brouhaha between us and the fine gentlemen of the venerable Schnitz-mobile. We screamed, we yelled, we stomped our feet. Bascially we bahaved either like a couple of children or an old married couple, depending on how you choose to look at it. Naturally in the end we kissed and made up (without the kissing part). We apologize for airing our laundry in public, and as Oleg (the Schnitzmeister General) said "That which does not kill Burger Love & Schnitzification, only makes Burger Love & Schnitzification stronger". Well he might not have said that exact thing, but that was his sentiment ;) We've enjoyed a wonderful relationship with the Schnitzel Kings since before we started spreading Burger Love and have helped each other on many occassions. But as inevitably happens with all friends, you get into a little tiff. That's what happened between us. Who's right, who's wrong? That's irrlevant. What's important is your two favorite Trucksters are back and fully focused on the most important task at hand - bringing you the best vittles in NYC.

So now that we've put that bit of needless stuff behind us, on to the weekly stuff:

Our schedule this week is a little bit fluid. We're going to have to change Tuesday location of 52nd & Park to Monday's on 52nd & Lex. The Rafiqi Halal boys felt that we were cutting a bit much into their biz and we do not want to rock the boat, so we're moving down the block. Tuesday becomes an uncertain day. Before we get to the weekly schedule & Burger of the Week, we wanted to use this blog for its true intent - communicating, asking questions, voicing frustrations, just asking "Why is this like this?"

There are two types of street food vendors in NYC. The old timers (guys whove been doing this for decades and park their cart in the same location everyday, and, like us, the new guys (mostly truck operators who daily move from location to location everyday). We, at Frites'N'Meats, are pretty much live and let live people. We have no interest in interfering with others, disrespecting others or foisting our beliefs or ways of doing things on others. We believe that it's not cool to go to a spot that a person has occupied everyday for years and essentially force them out for your benefit, but we do not think that just because you occupy a certain spot one day a week that you somehow "own" that spot the other days that youre not there. We do not believe that anyone who parks in a space one day a week, has the right to demand that someone who is there on a day they are not, leave that spot because they feel that their day no longer works and want to use your day. I know that sounds a little confusing, so let me provide an example without using names.

We used to park on Water & Broad in FiDi on Mondays, while another truck parked there Tuesdays. Then one day, due to their decreasing sales, the owner of the other truck came to us and said "I have to change my spots around. I want to be in that spot on Monday, you have to leave!" They then proceeded to tell us that they had the right to kick us out since they "owned" that spot because they had been coming there one day a week for 6 months. We told them that that didn't seem right as these are public streets and anyone is allowed to be there. Our reasonable comments upset this vendor greatly who then proceeded to start shouting and threatening to physically assault us.

We understand that business is business, but making violent threats as well as claiming "ownership" of something that is clearly public and does not belong to anyone but the city is a bit over the top. This is especially difficult to comprehend since when we thought of parking on Water & Broad we informed this particular vendor that we would be doing that. At that time they had no issue with that, nor did they make any conditions on our being able to do so.

Anyway, just wanted to express that and give you a bit of a glimpse in the "seedy underbelly" of the street food business. It ain't as glamorous as it appears ;)

A Most Exciting Weekend Coming Up

Howdy Burger Lovers,

We are incredibly excited about the two events this weekend to which we'll be bringing extra helpings of Burger Love!!!

The First is the World Famous Tribeca Film Festival Street Fair. This takes place this Saturday, May 1st from 10am - 6pm. We will be at the Fair from Noon - 6pm.

The Second is the soon to be World Famous Hell's Kitchen Gourmet Food Truck Bazaar. This is affiliated with the woderful Hell's Kitchen Flea Market. This Food Truck-apalooza staring yours truly ;), will be at 39th St & 9th Ave this Sunday, May 2nd from 11am - 4pm.

At both events we'll be featuring our Burger of the Week - The El Cubano (see previous blog for descrtiption) and Lena's Mind-melting Cherry, Walnut Brioche Bread Pudding with Godiva Liquor & Vanilla Cream Sauce!!!!

WTF and Other Tales of Schadenfreude

Howdy Burger Lovin' Friends,

Sorry for not updating the blog for a little a bit. This week in addition to telling you about our schedule and burger of the week, I wanted to use this blog to discuss something I've been noticing taking place and accelerating in society, specifically American society. Schadenfreude - pleasure derived from the misfortune of others. We see it in our politics as members of one party tear down members of the other party, not due to disagreement on issues, not because one party has better solutions, but becuase it gives a certain sociopathic pleasure to embarrass the opposition on a personal level. We see it in how individuals behave - whether in the workplace or in society at large by blaming their problems on others and deriving pleasure from the misfortune of our fellow human being. And last week, certainly on a much less serious level, Schadenfreude came to roost in the world of Burger Love.

On Tuesday, having just opened for lunch in Tribeca, in the same spot we have been almost daily for the last 6 months, we recieved a visit from the local police officer dealing with vendors. He and his partner were perfectly nice and brought us the following message "Leave now & never return". When we asked why, almost sheepishly the officer said "I'm sorry, I know you're not bothering anyone, I know you're only trying to make a living, and honestly your menu looks very good, but someoen complained and when they do, I have to ask you to leave. If you do not leave, or if I see you here again, I will issue you a summons and may confiscate your truck". Confiscate the Truck?!?!?! This is where Schadenfreude comes in. Why would someone call the police? If we are doing something that bothers someone, why doesn't that someone come up to the truck, tell us their concerns, possibly see us as reasonaable human beings and give us the opportunity to address their issue. Instead, it's easier to demonize and in an anonymous manner, destroy. It's easier to get someone who possess unarguable authority to deal with your problems then deal with them yourself. History is full of incidents when force rather than reason was used to achieve short term objectives, but never long terms results. The agent of force, the officer in this case, didnt even know why he was being sent to ask us to leave. He couldnt tell me what the complaint was, just that one had been anonymously lodged and he had to act on it. In my opinion, and in the opinion of everyone who came to the truck that day and was informed of what was happening, it wasn't fair and as some said showed incredible mean-spiritedness on the complaintants part. What was it that we were doing that caused this person so much discomfort, that their singular desire to be rid of us outweighed the pleasure we seem to give the hundreds of customers who visit us every week in Tribeca. What was it that we did that made this person say "The hell with all these people, what I want is more important". Why are the desires of the few, more important than the needs of the many. History is littered with moments in time where the path of confrontation was much easier than the path of conversation and consensus. This approach has never lead to peaceful co-existance but to long-term resentments and grudges. We must remember that today's conquered are tomorrows conquerers. And Burger Love conquers all. So that day, we moved. Not far. A couple of blocks. And then we Tweeted about it. The indignation and outporing of support were incredible to see. It showed us that while Schadenfreude is powerful, the forces of Goodness & Burger Love are far more powerful. We saw it that day and we thank you, our Burger Lovin' friends for showering us with your love when we felt so low. However, in the end, in this case, the Forces of Evil won a short term victory. We will no longer be able to do Lunch Service in Tribeca. We cannot risk the confiscation of our business. We feel absolutely terrible about this, but with the laws being what they are, and with anonymous black-hearted, Burger Hating people roaming the streets of Tribeca, we cannot take this chance. We will continue to do daily dinner service in Tribeca at Greenwich & Duane, in front of the Food Emporium.

OK, that's that. Just had to get that off our chest.

The Week That Was, Another Winner & The Week Ahead

Howdy Amigos,

Looks like we've got a mighty fine week ahead of us. Nice weather. No rain in the forecast. The Burger Gods are smiling on us.

We had a hell of a week. It seems week after week, Burger Love in NYC is growing by leaps and bounds. Sometimes it grows so fast we can't keep up. That was the case this past weekend in MIDTOWN. The weather was perfect, we were in our spot on 48th & 6th, we were ready...or so we thought. The phone started ringing off the hook. in our effort to please all our customers we started taking preorders at 11am. By the time we were done taking preorders at 1130, we had 48 orders that were going to be picked up by 1230. This wouldnt have been a problem. However, this being MIDTOWN, where it seems our most rabid fans spend their time, by noon, we had a line of at least 30 people. This also was not a problem. Indeed this gets us really juiced. We love seeing our fans come out. Then, however, we had a little grill fire. This was a bit of a problem. This last thing, put us a bit behind the ball. We saw some of you leave because you couldnt wait so long. We are very very sorry about that. It is always our goal to get you the best burger possible in the shortest amount possible. And for a little while on Wednesday, we werent doing that very well. To all those that either waited a long time to get their lunch or just couldn't wait anymore, we apologize BIG TIME!!!! We promise that will not happen again. We have taken steps to ensure that. But, as the say, the proof is in the pudding, or in our case, in the Burger. So, MIDTOWN, come out this Wednesday and see the results!!!

Wednesday, however, wasnt all bad. One great thing did come out of it. The Wall Street Journal contacted us, and will be doing a write up of us for their new New York Metro edition (dont know if theyre calling it that). We will be in the first edition of this new section. Its supposed to appear during the last week of April.

Springtime for Burger Lovers

Spring arrived in glorious fashion last week. With one day better than the next it was tough to believe that we'd be back in the 50's this week. What a tease...but it was still nice to realize that the Hell that was this Winter is finally over...we hope.

This past glorious weather week also gave us some insight into the hunger you've all been experiencing this winter for some Burger Love. You came out in droves. We were especially happy to see the folks in Tribeca, our Home area, coming out in large numbers. We were hoping that you hadnt grown weary of us over the last few months or had forgotten about us due to our February hiatus, but neither proved the case. You were all missing our Burger Love and its so cool to see all of you.

This week were keeping the same schedule, with Wednesday still continuing to be our day of uncertainty. We still feel a bit uneasy about Midtown West in the 50's after our run in there with the man in Blue two weeks ago. And truth be told our first foray into Midtown East proved a bit disappointing (certainly a pale shadow of the welcome we received in Midtown West). So we're not sure. We might return to Midtown East and see if having a week to spread the word will result in more people coming out or perhaps try a different spot in Midtown West other than the 50s or perhaps we'll end up somewhere else entirely. Anyway, here's our sched for the week.

Howdy Burger Lovers!!!

Wow, what a week we had!!! I think this might have been our best week ever. And of course, it's all thanks to you.

THe highlight of the week was our trip to Midtown this past Wednesday. We'll post pics later, but WOW!!!! Midtown must have been super hungry for some real Burger Love. Judging by the 30+ deep lines for the entire time we were there and the comments we saw many of you leave later, noone minded waiting and everyone came away full and satisfied. The day, however, ended in a very bittersweet manner. Johnny Law came by (we thought he was stopping by for our legendary Oinker Burger of the Week ;) but that was not the case). He told us, that despite the fact that food trucks park in that EXACT spot on other days without any incident and throughout the neighborhood, that there was a statute forbidding vending from metered parking and threatened us with a summons and towing if we return. I know, I know, I can hear your hearts dropping, I can hear you saying "Was last week's Burger Love just a tease, was it a Burger Dream". No Burger Lovers, it was real, and it's coming back. We're just not sure where. We're going to investigate the validity of this statute and we're going to find a different location. Probably Midtown East. Just keep an eye on our Twitter our daily schedule, weekly specials, and other Burger Love stuff.

The Week That Was, The Week That Will Be & The Poll

Howdy All!!!

Man oh man was it great to be back this week. We were totally psyched to get back to work. Now I know what Derek Jeter feels like in the off-season. Chomping at the bit!!!

It was super to be back in Tribeca. All the folks who've been going through Burger Love withdrawal for the last month were very happy to see us, just like we were very happy to see all of them.

It was also extremely great to get such a wonderful welcome from our friends in the Financial District. You guys totally loved us and that was a wonderful feeling. We were there Wed & Thurs and we were seeing quite a few of you come back on Thurs for some Burger Love repeat. Burger Love addiction, it's a wonderful thing!!

This past week we were also experimenting with our Burger meat blend. The Burgers we had before our absence were great, but we found the meat blend to be ground a little fine, and many of you were also commenting that by the time you got your Burger Love back to work, they were a bit overcooked. We've addressed both of those issues. We are now grinding the meat a bit more coarse. This not only gives the Burger a more meatier taste, which is a very good thing, but also because the previous fine ground was resulting in a very tight patty which continued to cook rapidly while in bag on its way back to work with you, the coarser ground does not cook as fast and results in the patty still being at medium to medium-rare by the time you arrive salivating back at your desk. We've asked a couple of our regulars if they've noticed a difference, and they have confirmed the above results.

So what have we got planned for next week? We're bringing back the Legendary Oinker as Burger of the Week. We also are posting our Weekly Schedule below:

We're Back!!!!

Howdy All,

Sorry for the extended silence, but we didn't want to say anything and make false promises regarding our return until we knew for sure when we'd be back. And now we do. We will definitely be back next week. Probably Monday, March 1 or at the latest Tuesday, March 2.

Why have we been absent for pretty much all of February, you ask? Well it's certainly been a month filled with thrills, chills and misadventures. None of which would make for a comedy starring Mr Bean. First as we last Twittered, we blew the transmission on The Beast....right in the middle of the Manhattan Bridge. That was fun. Time consuming, very expensive, frustrating fun (hope you're picking up on the sarcasm). Next we had some Permit issues. These were supposed to be resolved on Feb 11, but due to the last snowstorm's arrival on Feb 10, the resolution of our Permit issue was delayed until yesterday, Feb 25, when this snow storm arrived. Let me tell you driving a 21 foot, rear wheel drive truck on the BQE in a huge snowstorm is about as much fun as it sounds.

So that's what's been keeping us away. Thank you to the many of you who called and emailed to see what was going on. One good thing that came out of this whole megillah is that we will now be able to bring our Burger Love to many more of you, as the resolution of our Permit issue gives us the ability to go anywhere in the City. We will continue to focus on Tribeca, a neighborhood that has embraced us from the beginning, and also spend several days a week in the Financial District.

We will post our schedule here, on our blog, over the weekend. We will continue to do delivery, but as we will be moving day to day, the delivery area will be affected by our location.

We are very excited to see all of you next week, and seeing that the weather's supposed to be sunny, we hope to see many of you. In the mean time, please check out our website. We've updated our About Us page to be less cheeky and more informative, and have created the Catering page for when you want the Frites'N'Meats 21-foot Monster of Burger Love all to yourself and your closest friends.

So on Friday, while looking over our Twitter posts, I saw this link on the side, @fritesnmeats, and having never clicked on it before, clicked. Wow! Here I was, all this time, thinking that noone was paying attention to our Tweets, that noone was writing to us, and there they were, several hundred Tweets from you to us. Wow!

First of all we want to apologize for not responding to all of you. It was not out of arrogance, but out of ignorance. Secondly we want to address the most pressing question on most of your minds - what is our delivery area, and what is the delivery minimum.

Our delivery minimum is $15. Our delivery area is bordered to the North by Hubert Street, to the South by Park Place, to the East by Church Street, and to the West by the West Side Highway. Right now our delivery area is a bit small as we make all deliveries on foot, but by the end of the month we'll have the Frites'N'Meats cycle on the road and we'll be expanding our deliveries to the Financial District and other points, North, East, West & South. This week the Burger of the Week is The Oinker!!! This is, without a doubt, the best burger in NYC. Second to none. You've been clammoring for us to bring it back and here it is. Man, I'm getting hungry just writing about it.

Wanted to wish all our fellow carnivores a very Happy 2010. May your burgers always be tasty, juicy and cooked to perfection. May your fries always be crispy on the outside, creamy on the inside, and accompanied by fabulous dipping sauces. I guess what I'm saying is may your 2010 be a Frites'N'Meats year ;)

We're kicking it off with a Burger of the Week inspired by the flavors of Little Havana in Miami. I was lucky enough to spend some time there over the holidays and the flavors, music, and people all about a good time. So we wanted to put all that into a Burger. We came up with The Havana Mama. It's a wonderful blend of Nieman Ranch ground pork & spicy Chorizo sausage, topped with Brie cheese & smoky Chipotle sauce. It's got heat, it's got spice, it's sexy, it's Havana!!! We hope you'll swing by and grab one or give us a shout and we'll come a'runnin'.

Speaking of us runnin', just wanted to remind y'all that we do deliver. So I'm sitting at Katz's on Saturday afternoon thinking about the past week, the milestones we passed (4,000 burgers sold, our first 10 burger eater), and about how wonderful this past week's Burger of the Week, The Oinker, was and what am I gonna come up with to surpass it. I'm sitting there deep in thought. Sitting, thinking, and eating God's perfect sandwich - Katz's Pastrami on Rye, when it hits me. This is it! This is next week's Burger of the Week!!!

We're gonna take some Debragga & Spitler grassfed Angus, top it with some Katz's pastrami, melt some Murray's gruyere on it and top it off with some zesty slaw. God damn that sounds good.

And thus The Noo Yawkah was born. Come down this week and show us if you're a Noo Yawkah who can handle The Noo Yawkah.

No, no, no, we're not leaving our beloved Tribeca, so no panicky phone calls please :) We're just hittin' the road, as in doing delivery. Now that its getting colder, we know it's less fun to be standing outside waiting for that piece of grilled meaty goodness. But nonetheless, we know you want it. So we're gonna bring it to you.

Alrighty then, time to end that weekend fling, that temporary dalliance. Time to see that over-dressed, over-stuffed hussy for what she is --- a no good, home wrecking gobbler. Time to return to your true love, to your comfort. You know what we're talking about. It's time to have a Burger ;)

And this week we've got a beauty for our Burger of the Week. We didn't roll it out last week, because it was a short week, and this baby needs a full week of adoring consumption. For your dining pleasure, may we introduce The Moroccan Merguez Burger. A beautiful patty of spicy Moroccan merguez served with a Harissa Goat Cheese Yogurt & Roasted Red Pepper Relish on your choice of Balthazar bun. My my my. I'm taking bets that those that have one, will be back for another before the week is out.

The weather is telling us its Soup Time. Not to brag, but we make some really really good soups. We'll be rolling these out midweek or so.

The lovely Lena, she of the fabulous home made desserts, has been convinced to make her absolutely Insane Brownies. We are most excited about this development.

Much To Be Thankful For

Hello Dear Friends,

As we start our fourth week, we have much for which to be thankful and much to look forward to.

We are extremely grateful for your support, your return visits, and your growing acceptance of us. These last few weeks have really shown us that if we constantly try to provide a high quality product, and that you see the effort we put into it, you will, as you have shown, give us every opportunity to succeed. After our first couple of days, when we were swamped and definitely not ready, and many of you got handed the wrong order or burgers that were over- or under-cooked, you could have easily written us off. But you didn't. You stuck with us. And now seeing many of you coming back time and time again, we know we must be doing something right. Perhaps we're not 100% there yet, we certainly think we can improve, but we're getting better and closer to the level we want to achieve.

So what have you got to look forward to...

Well this week, tomorrow in fact, we will be starting to do delivery. Initially to a small area, but as we become more confident in our ability to deliver to you a piping hot burger in an acceptable amount of time, that area will increase. Our foremost concern is that nothing we do affect the quality of our product.

Initially you will have to call in your orders, but in the not too distant future, you will be able to place your order over our website or possibly through seamless web...we hope.

Of course there are the Burgers of the Week to look forward to, and starting next week, we will also have soups, and hot drinks to warm you in the Winter chill.

And The Beat Goes On

Howdy Burger Lovers,

Sitting here on the cusp of Friday. Pretty exciting week, gotta say. We're seeing more and more of you return, which is absolutely wonderful and extremely flattering. We really love that the Stuy folks have made us a regular stop on their Lunch tour and have been covered in the Stuyvesant Spectator. And we really love that we've become a regular frites stop for the kids pouring out of PS234 after school.

What's really been humbling and at the same time very affirming is seeing a steady number of people travel down to visit us because they heard about us from friends. We've had a good number of folks travel down from Chelsea, but this week we received a pick up order from Rosalie, who came down from 36th Street. Wow! We were completely blown away. Wow again.

It's also been very cool to see that our dinner experiment is working out. We love the fact that not only are the folks working in the area taking a shine to us as a lunch option, but the resident Tribecans and BPC-ites, have deemed us dinner worthy as well.

The response has been great to our Burger of the Week. You've really taken a shine to it. Next week, we're rolling out another one. Will have Merguez, the legendary Moroccan spicy lamb sausage, transmogrified into an amazing burger. More details to follow...

With the chill in the air, we figured soup would be a good thing. Stay tuned for a weekly roster of wonderful veloutes and such.

And lastly, we're really psyched about this one, in addition to continuing with our Phone Ahead Pick Up Service, we're going to start doing delivery. Yep, that's right. Starting Monday we'll be doing delivery. At first in a limited radius, but as we master it and feel confident that the product that arrives to you is the quality we want it to be, we'll expand it. Initially, you'll have to call us to place your order, but in short order we'll make it web-based through our website and hopefully Seamless Web or Delivery.com.

So that's about it. It's been an exhilarating, humbling, exciting, kooky ride. And we think the ride's just getting started.

Howdy All,

For most of us Monday is the least favorite day of the week. The start of the work week, end of the weekend. No fun. For us its a bit different. Since we ran out of food on Friday, we've been thinking about Monday.

Last week, a bit nervously (after all it was only our second week), we started taking phone orders for pick up, and started staying open into the dinner hours. Wow, was the response great!!! Each day more and more of you decided no to stand out in the chill and drizzle, but to just give us a call and swing by 15 mins later to scoop up your chow. No muss, no fuss. And many of you were smiling when you saw us in the evening. We like to see you smiling after a long day. Especially if we can play a part in that.

So what have we got coming up this week? Some more exciting stuff, thats what.

First, we're staring our Burger of the Week. We though long and hard about what our first burger of the week should be. We wanted it to be something very different from what we have on the menu, not just a different combination of the items we already have. So this week's Burger of the Week is:

Seasoned Ground Lamb, Goat Cheese, & Port-soaked Figs.

"What?!?!?" you say, "That sounds very weird", you say. Yes, that may be true, but we guarantee you, this will be the best burger youve had in a long long time.

Ok, so we came up with the Burger, but what do we call it? We originally were thinking Mediteranean Burger, but thats pretty lame. So we figured we'd let you name it. Send us an email to feedme@fritesnmeats.com, put Burger Name in the Subject and tell us what you'd call this bit of fabulousness. We want to pay homage to the Mysterious & Charismatic FM. We want to keep it with the Superhero theme gracing our truck.

Person who submits the winning entry, not only gets our undying gratitude, but will also receive some super cook Frites'N'Meats gear.

Lets hear it Burger fans!!! What are we gonna call this puppy?

Oh yeah, we've also got more stuff planned, but we're keeping it a secret...for a little bit

What's Coming Up

Howdy Burger Fans,

We're sort of settling in, and getting comfortable in the day to day, so we've decided we need to do something. Starting today:

1. We will start taking limited phone orders for pick up. Give us a call at 917.292.9226. If we dont answer, we're probably a bit busy with customers at the truck, but please leave a message and we'll call you right back.

2. A lot of folks who live in the area have been asking if we're going to stay open for dinner. Yep. Starting that today also. We will be parked until 7pm. Stop by and grab some goodness on your way home.

3. Special Burgers - There are 30 combinations to choose from just between the different breads, meats, and cheeses (never mind how many once you factor in the different toppings), but we've decided we need to have a Burger of the Week. Starting next week. The first Burger of the week will be: Mediteranean Burger - Ground Lamb, Goat Cheese, Figs Marinated in Port. We know, sounds a bit strange, but wait till you try it. It will make you cry, its so good.

That's it for now, but we would love to hear from you. Some feedback would be great. Tell us what you like or don't. We love to hear the good, but if we fall short in any way, we really really want to hear that also. Your feedback is what will make us give you the best burger we can. And that is the only way we can continue on our journey of Saving the World One Burger at a Time

The First Week

Howdy All,

The first full week is done. What did you think? What did we think?

We are extremely happy by how the neighborhood has responded to us. We already feel like we've been accepted as a neighborhood fixture. It's great to see not only people working in the area stopping by for lunch, but also the students from Stuyvesant H.S., BMCC, and especially all the kids from PS 234. And we must be doing something right as we are already starting to see many of you coming back.

But it hasn't all been perfect. It is our first week, and no matter how much time we spent getting ready, it's not until you open up, that you see what works and what does not. We have to say, our first day, October 29th, was not good. Not good at all. If any who are reading now, visited us on that first day, we apologize. We were not ready to have 40 people waiting for us to open on that first day. We know we made mistakes. We know many of you were not happy with what you got and we profusely apologize for that. We learned a lot this past week and know we will continue to learn over the next several weeks. We hope that you will see and appreciate what we are trying to do and stick with us as we work towards providing the best burger and fries. Not only from a truck, but anywhere in NYC. We really feel that we are capable of that, and will achieve that in a short period of time.

We also love the suggestions and feedback we've been getting and you will soon see some of the things you've said to us integrated into Frites'N'Meats.

So what will you see? We will definitely be introducing daily Burger specials featuring meats other than Angus & Wagyu. We will also be kicking it up on the Frites end.

But most importantly, we want to hear from you. Really. Tell us what you think of what we're doing. Love us or not, any feedback from you will only help us get better. We want to know.

We'd love to have this blog become a place where through our communication with you, we become the best we can be and achieve the goal we set for ourselves - Saving the World One Burger At a Time
